Week in the life 2017 – Sunday

Alright then, last day for this project.

06:53 AM – I set my alarm, thought I hit snooze and woke up twenty minutes before my ride was coming to pick me up. Amazing how efficient one can be when there’s not a child involved.

WITLSunday

07:08 AM – I managed to make coffee and breakfast, get dressed, dig out my running shoes from the storage and be on time!

WITLSunday-2

07:58 AM – My mom and I were going on our annual road trip to what I suppose is Sweden’s equivalent to Walmart. Except there is only one store. And it’s not Walmart. But same type of people and same kind of stuff. I was just tagging along as company, wasn’t planning on buying much. Ha!

WITLSunday-3

08:29 AM – People seriously stay at hotels/camp/bring their RVs/take bus tours here from all over. The store has a national TV-show. They expand every year. There’s three cafés, a restaurant, hair dressers and more in the store. People go nuts for “cheap”. Yes, you can find good deals. You can also find a bunch of…not so quality like stuff. Lots of walking, hence the running shoes.

WITLSunday-4

10:20 AM – Anyway. It’s so clever having a café in the middle of the store (just like IKEA). Shrimp sandwich and a chocolate pastry for both of us. Keeps everyone happy and costumers will most likely buy even more stuff. We also happened to stumble across a gift card for $60 each we could use during check out. Yes thank you.

WITLSunday-5

12:23 PM – Remember I said I wasn’t planning on buying much. Did I honestly believe in that myself?! Oh Anna, you’re such a fool. Giant Playmobil set for $17 is too good to pass on.

WITLSunday-6

1:20 PM – Time disappeared and we ended up being in a rush on our way home.

WITLSunday-7

2:03 PM – It was time for a movie visit. Freja’s second. The movie theater had a half-off thing going on this day so everyone in town were going. Met up with George and Freja in a rush because George’s movie started 40 minutes earlier than ours.

WITLSunday-8

2:42 PM – I had bought our tickets in advance (you buy your designated seat here and I need to be in the back so I don’t get motion sick and throw up. Yeah, I’m weak like that. Don’t bring me to a 3D movie, I will not appreciate it).

WITLSunday-9

2:52 PM – Mom, Freja and I saw a cute stop-animation movie with woodland creatures called Klas Klättermus. George went by himself to see Lego Batman. He didn’t realize he had picked the Swedish version but he’s now lived here for almost eight years so he did ok.

WITLSunday-10

4:30 PM – On our way home. Sunny weather, ice cold wind.

WITLSunday-11

6:18 PM – Arts and crafts. Then Freja got a fever and she and I went to bed early.

WITLSunday-12

And that’s a wrap for Sunday, our week and this project ♥

Week in the life 2017 – Saturday

We started the weekend by getting upset with each other in the first five minutes being awake. All because of a popsicle. We turned human after breakfast. No one needs a photo of that.

10:24 AM – On our way to Freja’s first dance class. The sun was out but it was windy and freezing cold.

WITLSaturday

11:37 AM – Dance class did not go so well. We had trouble finding our way into the building and arrived about 2 seconds before class started, meaning we had no time to prepare or look around. There were tears. Freja spent more time outside of the classroom than in (parents aren’t allowed in the classroom) but she did learn two moves. Freja is not a fan of not knowing how to do something. She is also not a fan of trying. If she can’t do it immediately she thinks it’s garbage and walks away from it. She does not want to go back next week. I told the teacher we would be back for sure.

WITLSaturday-2

12:10 PM – Went for the weekly grocery shopping run but realized we were all hungry (duh, it was lunch time) and stopped for some hot dogs. George managed to spill Pepsi on all three of us and on the floor. Everyone got sticky. Freja surprised us by eating her first warm hot dog with the skin on for the first time in her life. She always wants them cold and without the skin (even if it doesn’t have skin, we have to remove “it”. Before I had a kid I always said “I’m going to teach my kid to eat everything because I was a picky child and it wasn’t great for anyone”. Yeah. I’m now one of those moms who will peel my child’s skinless hotdog and serve it cold just so she eats it. I can hear your eyes rolling at this point).

WITLSaturday-4

1:01 PM – We (meaning I) always do the self scanner thing in the grocery store where you blip and pack your groceries as you go through the store. Is that a thing in America? Anyway, by the time you hit the cash register you just put your scanner in the holder, swipe your card, pay and you’re good to go and you don’t even have to talk to anyone working there. We were all good until I realized that we hadn’t scanned the three items Freja had in her tiny little kid cart. Sooooo George had to go and stand in line to pay for them separately because I had already swiped my card. This day man!

WITLSaturday-5

1:24 PM – Finally home and putting the groceries away and trying to come up with a more filling second lunch. George left to go play a board game with a friend at the library.

WITLSaturday-6

1:59 PM – Had to rinse Pepsi out of Freja’s hair. Goggles are still a hit.

WITLSaturday-7

2:13 PM – Rediscovering her stuffed cats.

WITLSaturday-8

2:56 PM – Searching for an old computer game in our basement storage. We live in a small apartment with only one bedroom. It wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for our two storages in the same building. One in the attic and one in the basement. George keeps them somewhat organized. I did not however find what I was looking for.

WITLSaturday-9

4:30 PM – I picked up these shoes for Freja at the grocery store earlier today to get her motivated for next week’s dance class. She can also wear them at gymnastics. It did the trick, she wore them all afternoon and evening and is now willing to go back to dance class. (“I’m never going to bribe my child”. Ha. Ha. Ha. Yeah I used to say that as well)

WITLSaturday-10

4:35 PM – Moving all of the English storybooks to a new location (where it is easier for Freja to reach them) our bookshelf looks a little…unbalanced..? Guess it means more room for more new Swedish books.

WITLSaturday-11

4:37 PM – Helping Freja with some emergency flashlight surgery.

WITLSaturday-12

6:00 PM – George is back home and we end up by the kitchen table.

WITLSaturday-13

WITLSaturday-14

8:36 PM – I read to Freja and came out of the bedroom starving. I don’t know what happened to our ability to deal with hunger today, but I need real food NOW.

WITLSaturday-15

8:43 PM – Oven baked salmon with pesto, quinoa and a bunch of veggies. Yum! I suggest watching a movie since it’s been forever since we did that together.

WITLSaturday-16

9:23 PM – Now I remember why it’s been forever. Freja is waking up every ten minutes coughing. Great. We were germ free for…a week?

WITLSaturday-17

10:21 PM – Pacific rim. Giant aliens. Giant robots. We’ve seen it before. It has plot holes. We still enjoyed it.

WITLSaturday-18

And that’s a wrap for Saturday ♥

Week in the life 2017 – Friday

07:53 AM – This day did not start as I would have hoped. Remember I said I have a lot of head aches? This was one of those mornings. Not a migraine but still unpleasant enough for me to be on edge. The little hobbit and I were not on good terms before breakfast.

WITLFriday

07:54 AM – I should know by now to just make breakfast as soon as possible. Unclear if I’ll ever learn. (If you look closely you’ll notice a pice of art on the table among some dirty dishes from yesterday).

WITLFriday-2

09:01 AM – All ready to go to daycare.

WITLFriday-3

09:25 AM – Switched to more comfortable pants and attempted studying. Head was just not on my side today.

WITLFriday-4

11:27 AM – Why does it feel like I’m multitasking if I turn on the dishwasher and then go do something else (in this case studying)?

WITLFriday-5

11:43 AM – Benefit to studying from home; I can eat lunch in front of the computer (again, multitasking) and spend the lunch break doing yoga instead. Go away head ache.

WITLFriday-7

2:58 PM – Giving up for this week, wrapping up to go and pick up Freja.

WITLFriday-6

4:00 PM – That piece of artwork on the kitchen table. Yeah. It’s too big to put in a scrapbook so I took a picture of it instead.

WITLFriday-8

5:36 PM – Friday means Friday night movie. Tonight it was Cars. The yellow ones are Curious George. We have 23 of them (yes, seriously) plus two more in the closet that I am saving for a sick day (there will always be a new sick day with a 4-year-old).

WITLFriday-9

7:54 PM – George turn to read tonight (the library books I picked up yesterday were a hit). I got a card from my best friend who lives about 6 hours away from me. George fell asleep after a long work week.

WITLFriday-10

11:48 PM – Found an old time computer game online and time disappeared.

WITLFriday-11

And that’s a wrap for Friday ♥

Week in the life 2017 – Thursday

07:33 AM – One of those mornings when you’re not just ready. Just a few more minutes.

WITLThursday

07:39 AM – Our kitchen window is a mix of fruit, veggies, herbs and plants. Right now it’s in need of an update.

WITLThursday-2

07:42 AM – Hunting for breakfast.

WITLThursday-3

08:56 AM – I like that we live within walking distance of Freja’s daycare and that she enjoys her little balance bike. Last week she got a bigger one with pedals but we’re still working on a few things before she can take that on her own.

WITLThursday-4

09:01 AM – She’s not the only one taking her bike there.

WITLThursday-5

10:25 AM – I had a meeting with my writing partner and then we had a meeting with our mentor and it is all a disaster but we’ll make it through…somehow… After the meeting we had som disappointing lunch and visited two libraries hunting for books for the essay.

WITLThursday-6

2:02 PM – We do live close enough downtown I could have walked home but trying to be as efficient with time before pick up at daycare I decided to take the tram.

WITLThursday-7

4:13 PM – Snack time. You know the drill by now. I also bought movie tickets for Freja, myself and my mom for Sunday because the movie theater had a half off deal for all children’s movies. Freja had a breakdown over life, I fixed it with dinner.

WITLThursday-8

7:49 PM – Our hallway is not equipped for Freja being able to hang up her own clothes. Sometimes that leads to “Just put it on the floor, I’ll deal with it later”. Today was definitely “later”.

WITLThursday-9

7:50 PM – I need to remind myself that I do actually love how much Freja enjoys arts and crafts. This evening she had a blast cutting and gluing and taping and writing and making. I do love it. I do.

WITLThursday-10

8:51 PM – Post-reading-to-Freja. Editing photos for this blog post.

WITLThursday-11

10:43 PM – George worked overtime again and went out for Pokémon right after work which meant he was home super late. Somehow the best conversations always start right as we have to get to bed. Why is that?

WITLThursday-12

And that’s a wrap for Thursday ♥

Week in the life 2017 – Wednesday

07:00 AM – For the last 12 years I’ve suffered from head aches and migraines. I’ve eaten a lot of pain killers, changed my diet, tried different workouts and tracked when they occur. Nothing really helps in the long run. My go-to-fix recently is yoga and coffee. Anyone who knows me know coffee is not really my thing but hey, whatever works. Lots of milk (more than half) and I’m ashamed to admit how much sugar I put in there but (I’m afraid to say it out loud) it works! This morning I watched a live Instagram story before Freja even woke up.

WITLWednesday

07:14 AM – Seriously April, could you be a bit more generous with the temperature?!
(28 Fahrenheit)

WITLWednesday-2

07:25 AM – Both of us were up earlier than we needed so we had time to read a couple of books before we had to get dressed.

WITLWednesday-3

07:36 AM – Shower time for me.

WITLWednesday-4

08:45 AM – Hair and make-up done, that does not happen every day.

WITLWednesday-5

08:46 AM – Some last minute play before it’s time to get dressed…

WITLWednesday-6

09:01 AM – …and take the little balance bike to daycare.

WITLWednesday-7

09:20 AM – Picking up a package on my way home.

WITLWednesday-8

09:24 AM – Turned out to be two packages! The big one was outdoor clothes for Freja and the little one a big spool of gray and white bakers twine I ordered off of Ebay ages ago.

WITLWednesday-9

1:15 PM – Study, study, study, study, study… I’m studying to become a high school teacher, should graduate in January 2018. Working on a big paper with a partner for ten weeks at the moment.

WITLWednesday-10

3:58 PM – Wednesday means gymnastics for Freja! Last year we went to one locally and it was embarrassingly bad. I signed up for an other class across town out on an island (we have friends who live there and go to the same gymnastics) and it is absolutely the best! (Totally worth being on the waiting list for a year). It does take an hour to drive there though but the ferry ride today was beautiful!

WITLWednesday-11

3:59 PM – Road trip means backpack full of snacks. Salty crackers, apples (without the peel), dried mango, water bottles, bananas, smoothie, fruit bar and sandwiches.

WITLWednesday-12

4:01 PM – And you don’t need to wear your shoes.

WITLWednesday-13

4:56 PM – Working on the obstacle coarse. Today we had a breakthrough! I’ve suspected that Freja is afraid of heights. Up until today she has not been happy at all about jumping down from anything, but today was the first time ever in her life she jumped without me nagging/lifting/dragging/fighting. She was so proud! I was (if possible) even prouder! Love progress! Love when she levels up! Love seeing her mastering things!

WITLWednesday-14

5:40 PM – Sandwich time on the ferry back home.

WITLWednesday-15

5:42 PM – Rush hour has slowed down at this point.

WITLWednesday-16

6:24 PM – We managed to get home exactly at the same time as George (who worked overtime).

WITLWednesday-17

6:55 PM – Since Wednesdays are kind of late dinner days we decided to make scrambled eggs, bacon and peas. Freja eats her peas frozen.

WITLWednesday-18

7:16 PM – Making silly jokes and sounds.

WITLWednesday-19

7:53 PM – The animals had to go to sleep.

WITLWednesday-21

7:55 PM – George’s turn to read again. Tonight it was a Star wars book and Wacky Wednesday. Freja got upset about the fact that we have a lot of books in Swedish but not as many in English. George fell asleep after reading (happens pretty often) while I inventoried our bookshelf and then ordered five new English books. Looking forward to their arrival!

WITLWednesday-20

10:26 PM – Some more studying for me.

WITLWednesday-22

And that’s a wrap for Wednesday ♥

Week in the life 2017 – Tuesday

7:45 AM – I’m not a morning person. She’s not a morning person. Enjoying the rare morning kisses (and just look at that little hand on my cheek ♥

WITLTuesday-4

7:57 AM – Being a mom doesn’t mean you get alone time in the bathroom.

WITLTuesday-5

8:07 AM – Tuesday meant back to work for George, back to daycare for Freja and back to my occasional substitute job for me (I jump in at an other daycare when needed if I don’t have mandatory university stuff going on). The hunt for breakfast begins.

WITLTuesday

8:26 AM – Freja is a “I want the same for breakfast every day” kind of person. Right now it is a sandwich with creamy peanut butter. I like more of a variety but settled for sandwiches this morning as well.

WITLTuesday-2

8:42 AM – Every Tuesday Freja’s group go out for a field trip in the woods and they bring a little snack. Apples without the peel and a water bottle it is. I pack it in her little yellow backpack in a rush as we’re running late.

WITLTuesday-3

10:49 AM – Working at a daycare means no photos of the children. My feet however are not off limits and today it was so cold I had to wear an extra pair of pants.

WITLTuesday-6

1:17 PM – Break time after lunch means snuggles under a blanket.

WITLTuesday-7

4:53 PM – On my way home from work (we did actually get a couple of snowflakes in the afternoon. Not cool April weather!

WITLTuesday-10

5:31 PM – Coming home, George had already started dinner (oven baked salmon and mashed potatoes) and he and Freja were having some sort of tickle fight going on.

WITLTuesday-9WITLTuesday-8

6:28 PM – Mount Laundry needed to be folded.

WITLTuesday-12

6:44 PM – Freja and I took care of it while George went for a quick nap.

WITLTuesday-13

7:14 PM – Some Lego time before bedtime. We read to Freja every other night (tonight was George’s turn). Always two books each night. On my nights it’s Swedish books and on George’s nights it’s English books. Having a bilingual child is pretty cool!

WITLTuesday-14

9:54 PM – I told George about The 100 day project a couple of weeks ago. I’m working on a quiet book and he decided to join in with an art project for a role playing game. He’s keeping up a lot better than I am.

WITLTuesday-15

And that’s a wrap for Tuesday ♥

Week in the life 2017 – Monday

As so many other scrapbookers I am tagging along with Ali Edward’s project this week.  For more information check out her website here.

9:25 AM – This week started with a holiday (Monday after Easter is always a holiday here in Sweden) so George didn’t have to go to work. We pulled out a bigger selection than usual for breakfast and were in no rush to get the day started.

WITLMonday

10:20 AM – Freja is not a fan of getting water in her eyes during bath time. As in there will be a fight. So last week I bought swim goggles to see if that could help our on-going struggle and today was the premier. They didn’t make it worst at least.

WITLMonday-2

10:21 AM – One of us always hangs around the bathtub, just in case. Safety first, right? And yes, we probably have the tiniest bathroom in the world.

WITLMonday-3

10:40 AM – So yeah. Still hanging around in the bathroom. After feeling embarrassed by our old soap dispenser for…years…I finally got a new one. IKEA $6. Should have done that a long time ago.

WITLMonday-4

10:41 AM – did I mention our daughter is 4.5 years old..?

WITLMonday-5

11:17 AM – Snack time. Apples without the peel in a white bowl. That is standard.

WITLMonday-6

12:36 PM – If there’s something that will drive me crazy it’s stuff getting stuck underneath my socks. I just can’t. I’m not a neat-freak by any means (see photo of our living-room floor above) but I will get motivated to vacuum if I step on crumbs or pebbles.

WITLMonday-9

2:49 AM – George is a Pokémon addict. We live in an area where we have a pretty good variety of the little digital animals but there are areas where there are even more and today was a good day for steel types.

WITLMonday-10

3:25 PM – Unfortunately it was pretty windy and cold so Freja and I decided to camp out in the car after a loop and have snacks (dried mango, salty crackers and more apples) while waiting for George to collect some more.

WITLMonday-15

3:52 PM – Back home again.

WITLMonday-17

4:26 PM – George usually gets up at 5 AM in the morning and is not really in the mood to make himself breakfast. Sometimes I make him breakfast muffins with sweet potatoes and carrots and today Freja made sure I was doing it correctly.

WITLMonday-18

4:31 PM – George was working on something secret. Turned out it was one of those cute message boards where it says “I love you because…” and you fill in the rest with a dry-eraser marker.

WITLMonday-19

6:30 PM – After dinner the muffins had cooled down enough to be put away.

WITLMonday-21

6:55 PM – Got to do some last coloring before it’s time for toothbrush and story time.

WITLMonday-22

8:47 PM – Child is sleeping, George out Pokémon hunting and I watch a couple of YouTube videos of various kinds.

WITLMonday-24

And that’s a wrap for Monday ♥
